Van Insurance

As with car insurance, there are three kinds of cover available.

1.Third Party Only (TPO)
Third party covers you for claims made by third parties, for damage you have caused. This is the minimum level of cover required by law.

It is important to note that third party cover does not insure you for damage, loss or theft pertaining to your van.

2. Third Party Fire & Theft
Third party fire and theft covers you in the event that someone makes a claim against you for injury or damage to their vehicle or property, and if your van is stolen or damaged by fire.

3. Comprehensive
Fully comprehensive van insurance means that you are covered for third party damage, fire and theft as well as accidental damage and any damage to your van that is your fault. With fully comprehensive cover it does not matter who is to blame for the accident, you are still covered.

Is my van a commercial vehicle?
Your van will be classed as a commercial vehicle by insurers if you use it for business purposes. If you do not use your van for business purposes you will require private cover.

If you require additional cover for expensive tools or equipment stored in your van, you should inform your insurer so that cover for this can be included in your policy.
